I agree.Windows 8 for the desktop,which is what I'm using, is not impressing me. However, while XP is the stablest, if you will, I think it's time we moved on to Windows 7. In my experience, I have found Windows 7 to be as stable as XP. In W8, the so called Modern UI needs some getting used to. Navigating through it is sometimes a nightmare. However, I'm still corious. I will stick to it for a while and see what happens. W7 for the time being is my favourite.

You are right Win is ok but Win 8 should have been left for mobile devices only, maybe!

Win 8 is great for tablets and touchsreen desktops.. I luv it!

took a look at a Windows 8 laptop in a store. tried opening up an app, and it restarted. tried opening the app again. it restarted. I turned the machine off, waited 30 seconds, restarted, and tried the app again. same results.

while this may not be a common result, if an OS can't take the heat on a demo box, how is it going to behave in an office environment?

I'll stick with my XP systems for now. they may be old, but at least the bloody things work.

Windows 8 is good but it's unusable, unless you install "Classic Shell" then things get much more interesting.

XP is compatible with most devices, MS can't push me to move to windows 8. XP for few more years.

People using XP will be forced to make the switch, if you dont' like 8 at least go to 7, 7 is a really great operating system NOW, I'm running 8 on my laptop, not wanting to switch from 7 to 8 on my main desktop system yet

I just bought a Lenovo N586 laptop for about $300 and it came with Win8 MM

I needed it to replace an OLD Win XP on a HP DV 9000 17" laptop -

now I am trying to figure out if I should open the box or just return it ?


ADVICE

Got it at Best Buy so I get 30 days to return ; however, I hate to do that and invest ANY time if Win 8 MM is a real PoS.

i agree, the start screen is abit over the top but, when compared windows 8 is alot quicker.
