The last words of King Lobengula to his people!

9 months ago | 8194 Views
"He felt his end was near, and calling together those faithful indunas and warriors who still remained with him, he said. . . go now all of you to Rhodes and seek his protection. He will be your chief and friend. To the fighting men present he said :You have done your best, my soldiers; you can help me no more. I thank you all. Go now to your kraals and Mjan (the General of all of Lobengula's Impi) the greatest of you all, will go to Rhodes, who will make things all right for you. To all of you I say "Hambani kuhle" (go in peace!)  Before twenty-four hours had elapsed, Lobengula was no more and Mjan. . . in due course reached Bulawayo and gave this account of his last hours. - RHODES A LIFE (London: Philip Allan 1928, 403pp)

Rhodes was lying. They shot and killed King Lobengula and Rhodes together with Starr Jameson led the propaganda campaign misleading the world about the last moments of the Ndebele monarch.

Tell it to the birds. Our grandfather was shot dead and buried in an unmarked grave, an antbear hole to be precise. All stories are a mere Rhodes propaganda.

This is either fiction or this white man is writing propaganda. How could King Lobengula ask his people to seek friendship and protection from Rhodes who had betrayed his trust, who had stolen from him? We all know that the demise of Lobengula was never witnessed by the white man. no one except a very small clique of people know where he died and was buried and definitely not anywhere in Zimbabwe. He must give proof of those last words. Words alone are not enough.

Well, whites are just whites. You'll never fool me. Lobengula never said these words. We know he died but as to how and when we are not so sure. History ( mostly by whites) indicates he died of malaria. He died while he was running away from the whites and he was not foolish enough to send his own people to the very enermy he was fighting. Bulsh*t!

every warrior knows when a fight is over. it must never consume the innocent.

to me this version seems to have been coined by whites in order to tame the amandebele from revolting against them.

Which party, are you talking of the opposition party zanupf, that is a dead party , at times I wonder how a human being thinks, only a few individuals within zanupf have been looting for their own benefit and for their immediate families and here we are still talking of the same party that has been stealing from the poor for the last 32 years, wake up and smell the coffeee my friend, we supporting MDCT are even better than you being sponsered by ZANU

Our last king crossed the Shangani river and vanished. What ever happened there after, the survivors kept it a closely guarded secret. Whatever you hear is just a bag of dust. the whites nevr captured him, if they did they would have celebrated like there is no tomorrow.

The Matebele and the Mashona all came together to fight the white Imperialist in one spirit.Never, did Lobegula surrender. If they he ahd surrendered then they would have ululated and it would be full in History books.Damn bastard lier.ALthough I am shona myself I like his bravery towards the colonialist Bulala abathakhati. i dont trust he white man Never Ever.

why is Lobengula's last words so shallow couldn't he have said something more to comfort his nation for by the nature of his words he had already betrayed the Isizwe by just mere words of defeat
